I think so too. Beyond that NG has always been a haven for experimental or lewd content. I always appreciated how it was like an underground art and music scene for creators. Besides VA's have to promote themselves too to find work.

Today Newgrounds became more Newdgrounds. I remember it was started about year ago when other sites started cleaning and purge nsfw content. But Newgrounds gave those people freedom and they attracted more funs with some deviations. So now NG have a good auditory with specific tastes.
